Our process starts by assessing where you are right now, what your current situation is in light of what you have already accomplished, identify any remediation necessary, and other factors before moving forward. We will take this into account when working with you to create a plan for starting or continuing your project.
Planning
Don’t skip this step! One common mistake that is made when starting a digital program is failure to create a comprehensive plan. Even if you do nothing else for a while, creating a plan gives you a roadmap for the next steps you should take.
Creating a plan can also make it easier to take that next step by clarifying your vision and separating tasks into manageable parts. It will clarify your needs, eliminate guessing, and guide your decisions.
We know what questions to ask to hone in on your specific situation and goals. At the end, you will have a professionally formatted Digital Curation Plan and Policy for your organization.
These documents can be used to inform your Board of Directors and other stakeholders. It can also provide some of the information necessary to apply for grants and other sources of funding.
Choosing Products
Sometimes, a lot of choices is a good thing. Sirca is not affiliated with any one product but we are familiar with many and have our favorites. Because we have no product affiliation, we can help choose products that fit your situation in regard to monthly expenses, amount of labor required to maintain, and ease of use. There are many great open source products available and Sirca can advise you on the pros and cons of using open source products compared to companies that offer full-service options with very little set-up or maintenance required.
